THE Sheffield Jesus Centre is now in its fifth year. Over the past five years, we have had a variety of special events, including a civic opening with the Lord Mayor of Sheffield, and annual Gala Days, working with our neighbours. We also pride ourselves in hosting multi-cultural food events, like Chinese, African, Iranian and American.
This year promises to give us more opportunities to work with other agencies and organisations. This began with our fifth anniversary – we held an evening celebrating the Chinese culture. It was the first time we had joined with the Confucius Society (an organisation associated with Sheffield University), and it was the beginning of a friendship. The society helped us out with activities and gave us volunteers to organise running them. It was a remarkable evening and we enjoyed working together. Jan and Jane Kurpiel organised the event, and, with a team of people, produced some amazing Chinese food.
Our next venture is an evening of music from the talented Rob Halligan, and some Christian comedy from the renowned author Adrian Plass, who will be accompanied by his wife Bridget. On Thursday 19th May they will be appearing at the Sheffield Jesus Centre in our Hanover Hall. The show will start at 7pm and finish at 9:30pm. The Parlour Café will be open at 6:30pm where light refreshments will be available to purchase. Tickets are £7.50, and these are available to buy either at the Sheffield Jesus Centre during opening hours (Monday, Wednesday and Friday 10am – 2:30pm) or via Eventbrite (they charge a £1.42 booking fee).
We look forward to seeing you there!
